April 22, 2024

More than 50 students from a private coaching center in Pune district, Maharashtra, have been hospitalized due to food poisoning, according to a police official. The center, situated in Khed taluka, caters to over 500 students and provides coaching for competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Following a meal at the center on Friday night, more than 50 students complained of symptoms such as stomach ache, vomiting, and diarrhea the next day. They were promptly admitted to a nearby hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable. An investigation into the incident has been launched by the authorities, with food samples being sent for lab testing to determine the cause of the food poisoning.

This unfortunate event highlights the critical need for stringent food safety measures and ongoing monitoring in educational institutions to safeguard the health and well-being of students. Such incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of ensuring that proper hygiene standards are maintained in all aspects of student accommodation and dining facilities.
