National University Singapore wins TAPMI’s ‘Quiz on the Beach’

The team from National University of Singapore, Shivam Bharadwaj and Mudit, has won the grand finale of the 15th edition of TA Pai Management Institute’s annual Quiz on the Beach hosted on January 7 at Malpe Beach, Udupi. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 6 Lakh.

Initiated in 2003, the unique concept of quizzing on the beach has grown exponentially over the years. Students from more than 500 institutes, including premier institutes such as IIMs, IITs, NITs, SPJAIN, IIFT, BITS Pilani, NUS and others were part of the quiz extravaganza. The top 26 teams from across the world battled it out to win the coveted TAPMI QoTB™ Champions title.

The team of Sailesh and Sohan from CET Bhubaneshwar were the first runners up and won a prize of INR 3 lakh. The team of Abhijeet and Akshath from IIM – Lucknow were declared the second runners-up and took home a prize of INR 1 lakh. The prizes were distributed by representatives of MRF - Sankha Das and Madhusudhan Rhenius, who is also a TAPMI alumnus.

The event kicked off with a special address by the director of TAPMI Dr. Madhu Veeraraghavan.

Tough competition was seen among 3000 teams, who battled in qualifier rounds. However, only 26 teams made it to qualifiers from across three countries. Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Subramaniam of the TATA Crucible fame was the Quizmaster of. The 8 teams which progressed to the grand finale were IIM–Lucknow, NUS Singapore, CET Bhubaneshwar, PES University, The Maharaja Sayajirao University  of Baroda and NIT Goa.

Commenting on the achievement, Shivam, who won the TAPMI’s ‘Quiz on the Beach’ for the second time said, “It was an exhilarating experience once again to be back in Quiz on the Beach finals. Absolutely nerve wracking competition that ended on a tie breaker but glad we managed to finish it on a good note. Lovely hospitality from TAPMI’s team and undoubtedly this is the best quiz in the campus circuit.”
