Choosing a college can be an onerous experience due to the plethora of options available to students today. The right guidance is necessary to help the student make an informed decision and prevent him/her from going astray. The right set of guidelines will help you sail through this laborious process. Below are 5 pointers that can help narrow down your options.

Training to enhance employability skills: Does the college offer training programmes that enhances your employability quotient? College education should go beyond imparting theoretical knowledge; it should hone your employability skills to make you industry ready.

Placements: How good is the institute's placement programme? What is the percentage of graduates who get placed in good companies? Do they get placed in positions that match their degree? Does the college have tie ups with companies that hire positions relevant to your course?

Scholastic and non scholastic approach: Does the college provide a balance between academics and extracurricular activities? Does it offer hands-on experience? Does the college provide opportunities outside of academics such as extracurricular activities, certificate courses etc which will ensure a holistic growth?

College Ranking/Accreditation: It is important to join a UGC recognised university which has a good ranking as it will assure credibility for higher studies as well as for employment. Intense research must be done to affirm the quality of the college.

Campus life: College is not all about academics. Campus culture and how suitable it is to your needs is equally important to ensure a memorable journey through college.
