151 school in Delhi have been issued show-cause notices by a child rights body of the Delhi government for not having special educators. In its notice, the Delhi Commission For Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has warned these schools of strict action in case they fail to appoint a special educator within six weeks of the notice. This means the schools will either have to certify within 15 days of the receipt of the notice that they have a special educator. Otherwise, they will have to appoint one within six weeks of the notice, said the DCPCR.
The notice issued also read that the schools, which are affiliated to CBSE, if unable to appoint a special educator will be initiated for disaffiliation. “In case, the school is unable to appoint a special educator within the given time, the school is directed to show a cause of the same, failing which the commission would be constrained to recommend to the board (CBSE) the initiation of disaffiliation of the school.”
Furthermore, the notice mentioned that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had directed all it’s affiliated schools, in the year 2015, to appoint special educators to ensure quality education for all children, including those with special needs.

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has been constituted under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 through a notification issued by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi on 7th July 2008.
