67% of students are aiming for entrepreneurship, reveals HirePro

August 26, 2024

HirePro, an AI-driven recruitment automation company, has identified a rising trend towards entrepreneurship, with 67% of students expressing a desire to start their own business within a decade of graduating.

The survey revealed varied timelines for these entrepreneurial ambitions. Notably, 14% of students plan to launch their businesses right after graduation, highlighting their eagerness to enter the business world. Another 23% intend to start their ventures within 2-3 years post-graduation, likely after gaining some industry experience. The largest segment, comprising 29% of students, envisions beginning their entrepreneurial journey 5-10 years after graduation, allowing time for career growth and resource accumulation. Meanwhile, 33% of respondents currently have no entrepreneurial plans.

A particularly strong entrepreneurial drive was found among students from Tier 1 and metro-based institutions, signaling a growing trend in urban educational centers.

The study also raises critical questions about whether educational institutions and corporations are prepared to support this shift in mindset. As more students aspire to forge their own paths, there is an increasing need for curricular adjustments and corporate strategies that can nurture and support these entrepreneurial goals.

HirePro’s survey highlights the shifting landscape of career aspirations among Indian students and its potential impact on the job market and economy in the coming years.
