Overview

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylor’s Road, Chennai is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded on October 20, 1968, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylor’s Road is one of the four Vidyalayas established by H H Swami Chinmayanandaji. Started with 30 students at 13th Avenue Harrington Road Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylor’s Road has grown tremendously over the years and presently boasts 137 students and 95 teachers.

Campus

The school campus hosts a three storeyed building that houses well ventilated class rooms, well equipped laboratories for math, physics, chemistry and biology, full fledged computer rooms and library with a modern audio visual room.

Academics

The school’s curriculum is designed in accordance with the Chinmaya Vision Programme and focuses on holistic education with emphasis on developing an integrated personality, cultural ethos, patriotic fervour and a universal outlook. Besides the academic courses which are externally assessed by the CBSE, the following areas of study are internally assessed and are part of the curriculum: electrical gadgets, physical and health education, art education (drawing, painting, music, dance, elocution, dramatics, etc.), value education (moral instruction) and computer awareness programme.

In classes XI and XII the school offers two streams:

Science: physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology/computer science.

Commerce: business studies, accountancy, economics, mathematics / computer science

The school also offers enrollment in NCC, RSP, Scouts and Guides and has clubs such as interact, Karuna and ecology to provide the students with valuable learning experience, outside the class rooms.

General Information

Admission

The age eligibility for admission to LKG is 3.5 years. Admission to all other classes is subject to availability of seats and only children from recognised CBSE schools are admitted after they produce transfer certificate issued by the educational department.

For admission to class XI, the student should have passed class X exam either from the ICSE, CBSE or state board. Students who have passed class X from Chinmaya Vidyalaya are given preference for admission, depending on their grade and marks obtained.

Achievement

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylor’s Road has achieved 100 percent pass results in class X and XII board exams with several distinctions. Students have also brought laurels to the school by winning competitions at the interschool, inter zone and inter state levels.

Accommodation

Being a day school, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Taylor’s Road does not offer accommodation facility.
