Overview

The Banyan Tree School, New Delhi is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school was established in 1986 under the aegis of Ram Krishan and Sons Charitable Trust. The Banyan Tree Schools are also present in Lucknow, Jagdishpur, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhopal and Gurgaon. The school boasts 1600 students from Nursery through class XII.

The school’s motto is “In Pursuit of Excellence” which according to the school is reflected in every aspect of school’s activity and operation. The school believes that the fundamental purpose of education is to encourage the children to bring about a positive modification in their behavior as they ascend the ladder of learning and knowledge.

Campus

Spread over 2 acres, Banyan Tree School, Delhi hosts a well stocked library featuring more than 12,000 books, national and international magazines and educational CD, fully air conditioned auditorium, multipurpose hall equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities and has a massive seating capacity, well equipped labs for chemistry, physics, general science, math, language and computer. The school also hosts a spacious dance room, music room, visual arts room, a medical infirmary and fitness room.

The sports infrastructure of the school includes amenities for basketball, football, athletics, handball, kho-kho, cricket, badminton, table-tennis and throw ball.

Academics

The school is divided into pre primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary sections. In pre-school and pre-primary sections, children are taught language development, number work, value education, games, dance, music, art and craft. From classes I to V, the subjects taught are English, Hindi, mathematics, environmental studies, computer skills, value education, physical education, games, dance, music, art and craft.

For classes VI to VIII, the subjects offered are English, Hindi, French/Sanskrit, mathematics, science, social science, life skills, computer science, etc. Classes IX and X have English, Hindi/Sanskrit/French, mathematics, science, social science and computer science. The school also promotes clubs like FILM IT, Hindi literary club, First Aid club, community service, math club, meal planning, theater, sports clubs, visual arts club, performing arts club, nature club, heritage club, quiz club, visual and performing arts: Indian music, dance, art and theatre.

At the senior secondary level, the school offers three streams – science, commerce and humanities.
