Founded in 1968 by well known educationist Dr. Stya Paul, Apeejay School, Jalandhar is a coeducational day school reckoned among the most prestigious schools in Punjab. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the medium of instruction is English. It caters to over 3600 students from Nursery through class XII.

The school aims at providing quality education helping students to develop as mature individuals infused with concrete sound values and ideologies.

Campus

The 6 acre Apeejay School campus hosts spacious, well lit classrooms, a well resourced library featuring over 16,000 books, magazines and newspapers, and a state of the art computer laboratory equipped with LCD and home theatre. The school also hosts an amusement park with a toy train and a play station for the kids and a toy room furnished with different toys and a small movie theatre.

Academics

Affiliated with CBSE, Apeejay School offers classes from Nursery through class XII. The school follows both summative and formative types of assessments.

At pre primary level, the school solely concentrates on teaching learning strategies that includeremoval of section bias, enforcement of colour conceot by encouraging children to come to school on their ‘Sunday Best’ on a particular day. The curriculum at this level focuses on enhancing a child’s listening, writing, speaking and reading skills. The subjects include Environmental Science, Computers, English, numbers and Hindi.

At the primary level, the teaching techniquelays emphasis on child centred educationby promoting communicative skills through groupwork, group discussion, questionnaire, practical, experiment and focus skill.

At middle and senior school, the curriculum includes demonstration, group discussion, questionnaires, experiments, debates and paper reading contests. The subjects include English, Hindi, Punjabi, Mathematics, Sanskrit, Environmental science, Computers,General Science and Social science.

The school offers science, humanities, and commerce streams at the higher secondary level.

Students are encouraged to participate in Nursery day, recitation, fashion designing, theatre, western music, dance, painting art and craft, electronics, classic music, story –telling, quizzing, morning assemblies and organizes events like World Book day celebration, Baisakhi celebration as a part of their co-curricular activities.

The sporting activities include physical training, yoga and Karate. The school alsoorganises a two day adventure camp where students are offered training on tent pitching, mountaineering methods, and disaster management techniques, among others.

General Information

Admission

For classes Nursery, LKG and UKG,an informal interview with the child and the parents is conducted by the principal.

For classes I to X, last three years’performance is taken into consideration.

For classess XI and XII, the student’s performance in class X Board Examinations is considered.

Age Criteria

Nursery: 2.5 years to 3.5years

LKG and UKG: 3.5 to 4.5 and 4.5 to 5.5 years.

Accommodation

Being a day school, ApeejaySchool, Jalandhar does not provide residential facilities.
