Within a short span of 8 years of admitting its first batch of 98 students in 2003, the Indus International School, Bangalore (IISB) — the garden city’s dedicated IB school offering the primary, secondary and higher secondary curricula of the Geneva-based International Baccalaureate Organisation— has earned an enviable reputation as the city’s premier co-ed K-12 international school. Campus

Indus International School, Bangalore campus is located on a 20-acre plot inBangalore’s IT corridor. Classrooms seat 30 students, and are equipped with play areas for pre-school, projection systems, computer facilities and lockers. The integrated sports complex comprises an indoor-stadium and an outdoor track and field stadium. The amphitheatre has a seating capacity of over 800.

The IT structure gives access to information through a learning resource centre (library), and digital hook-ups with internet and online libraries. In addition to computer laboratories, computers are available in all classrooms, library, hostel and staff rooms for teachers. All students from class VI onwards have laptops. The entire campus has Wi-Fi connectivity.

Sporting facilities include horse riding, swimming, gymnastics, team sports and athletics. Included on the campus are practice fields for football and hockey, a 400m eight – lane track and field stadium, basketball and tennis courts and cricket practice nets. The indoor sports complex houses a basketball court, four badminton courts, two table-tennis tables, gymnasium, and one squash court. The complex also features two swimming pools.

Academics

Indus International School, Bangalore is affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organisation(IBO),Geneva. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programis a curriculum, a philosophy and a methodology for young learners between kindergartens to class V. In this program, emphasis is placed on trans-disciplinary and inquiry-based learning. The Middle School Programis designed for students between the ages of 11 and 16. The student’s intellectual and social development is the focus of this program.

TheInternational General Certificate of Secondary Education(IGCSE) curriculum is conducted by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). This program is offered for classes IX and X and culminates in an examination and IGCSE Certification, on par with any secondary school certificate. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program(IBDP) is a two-year course of study.

Extra-curricular:

In keeping with the best traditions of boarding schools, extensive provision has been made for games and sports. Apart from facilities for field games (hockey, cricket and football), IISB offers students the options of training for track and field events, horse riding and show jumping, tennis, badminton, squash, swimming and basketball, with Bangalore’s pleasant climate enabling sports and games activities round the year.

Admission

Admission into the Indus International School, Bangalore is subject to vacancies in appropriate classes and based on written tests. Registration forms must be submitted with a demand draft of Rs.7, 500. The school accepts boarders from class V onwards. The admission process starts with the registration, the students of class I-V are offered admission based on the last 2 years academic year reports/ performance. The admission from class VI and above is based on written aptitude tests of the student.

Final admission of a student, after due process, will be communicated to parents/ guardians.On receipt of confirmation, the admission fee, and refundable security deposit must be paid within 30 days from date of confirmation and thereafter the annual fees must be paid in full / installment by the due date.

Fees: the admission fee is a onetime payment of Rs.77, 500-152,500. Tuition fees are amounts to Rs 1.9 lakh per annum for kindergarten students and Rs. 3.6 lakh for classes’ I-IV. The fees for Classes V-XII: Rs.3.8 lakh (day scholars)-5.95 lakh (boarders).

Accommodation

There are separate boys and girls hostels based on the ‘house’ concept. Each hostel is located on the campus. Staff and students dine in the central dining hall that can seat 500 persons.
