Seed, Adyar was founded in May 2004 by Jaya Sastri, a postgraduate in early childhood education with over 20 years of experience, with the objective of empowering children with the ability to transfer knowledge into action and apply knowledge to real life situations. Sastri was the education director and special needs coordinator for Somerset Community Action Program, USA and also started an international school in Nigeria.
According to a Seed spokesperson, all its programs are delivered by well trained, highly qualified, passionately committed teachers and caring support staff, and the school “provides a safe, nurturing and positive environment for children”.
Seed runs its own teacher training programme for preschool teachers.
The school campus is sited on an area of 6000 square feet with air-conditioned indoors. The outdoor play area comprises swings, merry-go-round, slides, jungle gym, pet zoo, sand area, cycling area, balancing slopes and blow-up swimming pool.
The school offers the following programs:
Infant Program
This program is for children above the age of 6 months. Outdoor, tumble corner, circle time, music and movement, story time, art and sensory activities are included in this program.
Play School
The curriculum is supplemented with appropriate learning materials and toys. Daily activities are planned based on the child’s developmental level and periodical goals are set based on daily observations.
Preschool
In this program each activity incorporates learning goals and objectives to assist the teacher in observing and mapping the child’s growth and development.
Kindergarten
SEED integrates the theory of multiple intelligences and Neuro Linguistic Program to help children learn faster and better.
The school strictly maintains a ratio of teacher student ratio of 1:15 and admissions are granted on a first come first serve basis. Admission is open for the infant, play school, preschool and kindergarten programs.
