Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi is an autonomous university founded as a state university by an Act of the Government of Delhi in 2008. It is a research-oriented university with strong focus on research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. AICTE recognizes IIIT-Delhi as an Institute of National Importance. The mission of IIIT-Delhi is to be a global centre of excellence in Information Technology education, training and research. With 60 B.Tech. students in 2008, it has come a long way with nearly 250 students on its rolls presently. The faculty student ratio of this college is 1:30.
The institute’s Training and Placement Cell is responsible for arranging campus placement for students as well as internships during the course of their study. The placement office also assists in arranging pre-placement talks, written tests, group discussions and interviews with prospective employers.
Spread across 25 acres near the Okhla Industrial Estate, IIIT Delhi’s wi-fi enabled campus hosts state-of-the-art infrastructure that includes 25 lecture halls, a 500-seats auditorium, two Faculty Housing Towers that house the director’s residence and 72 faculty houses. There are four hostels in total — two for the boys and two for girls. The hostels are equipped with high-speed internet connectivity is. The Sports Block also has 14 guest rooms and two guest suites on the second floor.
The Faculty and Research wing of the Academic Complex houses eight research labs, Ph.D. rooms and M.Tech. labs.
The Library and Information Center has a common study area for students on the ground floor, the library on the first floor and several labs on the upper floors.
The Dining and Recreation Centre houses the students’ mess, facilities for extracurricular activities including a music room, art room, student council room etc. which are spread over three floors. Other facilities include a cafeteria, ATM facility, stationery shop, mother dairy shop, juice shop and an open space for students.
