Overview

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi was founded in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous institute to help professionalize the country’s foreign trade management and groom experts by developing human resources, generating, analyzing and disseminating data and conducting research. The institute visualizes its future role as a catalyst for new ideas, concepts and skills for the internationalization of the Indian economy, as the primary provider of training and research based consultancy in the areas of international business, both for the corporate and government sectors, and student community, an institution with proven capability to continuously upgrade its knowledge base with a view of serving the requirements of the government, trade and industry through both sponsored and non sponsored research and consultancy assignments. Over the years, IIFT has undertaken path breaking research studies with organizations such as WTO, World Bank, UNCTAD and the ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The institute has also trained more than 40,000 business professionals across 30 countries in various facets of international business and trade policy via its Management Development Programmes. The institute boasts an excellent placements track record; in 2013, IIFT saw 74 companies participating in the campus recruitment process, giving out more than 204 offers to 200 students. Seven were international offers, the highest offer being USD 50,000.

Campus

IIFT, New Delhi sited in the Qutab Institutional Area in close vicinity of Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India. It sprawls over 6 acres against a backdrop of green ridge and historical Qutab Minar. The IIFT library is one of the largest libraries in the developing world featuring around 84,000 volumes and subscriptions to 800 journals. The library also has a unique collection of publications of FAO, IMF, OECD, UNCTAD, UNCTC, World Bank, and other international agencies. IIFT’s computer centre hosts state of art IT infrastructure and uses IT to provide a competitive advantage in its core areas of education and research.

IIFT was ranked No.21 by the QS Global 200 Business Schools Report in the Asia-Pacific region for 2012. In India, it was ranked No.7 by the Business Today 50 best business schools of 2011 and No.12 by the 2012 edition of CNBC-TV18's Top B-Schools in India.

Accommodation

The MBA (International Business) programme is a fully residential programme. There are separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. Computers are provided in every hostel room with 2 MBPS internet connectivity.
