Shigally Hill International Academy (SIA) is a girls’ boarding school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and the UK based Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE).
Promoted in 2003 by G.S. Babra, SIA Dehradun is part of an education organization operating under the name of Babra Institutes of Education Ltd with its head office in Nairobi, Kenya. SIA is an exclusive girls’ boarding school which aims to impart education for helping girls stand on their feet, grow in confidence and independence, to make the correct choices in life, so that they are prepared to be the makers of tomorrow’s world.
SIA boasts classrooms that are fully equipped with modern teaching aids, a state-of-the-art computer laboratory with internet connection, well stocked library, and science laboratories equipped with smart boards. Medical facilities include a well-equipped infirmary, a well-qualified nurse available 24 hours at the campus and a qualified visiting doctor.
At Shigally, academics are enthused with smart class studies and experiential learning. An extremely challenging and invigorating programme is regimented that boosts critical thinking leading to the development of leadership skills. The overall teacher student ratio of 1:15 helps in providing individual attention to the student. The medium of instruction in school is English which includes oral and aural media of communication.
The CISCE curriculum aims to provide a holistic and broad-based education taking into ambit all aspects of child behaviour, so as to equip them to meet the challenges in life and to develop their potential for lifelong learning. The curriculum is divided into the primary level (classes IV-V), upper primary level (classes VI-VIII), secondary level (classes IX-X) and senior secondary level (classes XI-XII).
The students are evaluated on the basis of unit tests and two terminal examinations. The evaluation is continuous. The weightage is given to project work, experimentation, oral work, aural work, etc.

Internet Wi-FiThe basic admission requirement to SIA is the need to converse in English. All admissions are strictly based on the merits of the candidate. Admission to any class is based on the result of the previous class and an interview with the Principal and the Director of the school. Necessary documents must be submitted at the time of registration.
Admission to Class XI is based on the board result of class X (ICSE) and any other board applicable to the CISCE norms and personal interview/counselling with the Principal. The cut off percentage for candidates seeking admission to Class XI in science and engineering stream is 65 percent. The cut off percentage for commerce and humanities is 60 percent.
Shigally is proud of its well-structured and organized co-curriculum program which is specifically designed to ensure all girls develop the skills required for the 21st century. Capacity building for higher order thinking skills is driven by debates and participation in the Doon School Model United Nations (DSMUN) and the Harvard University model united nations (HMUN) as well as the three in-house annual forums and summits on international affairs.
