Overview

The Department of Management Studies (DMS), IIT Delhi is the school of management education and research in the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Established in 1993 by an amendment in IIT Delhi statutes, the department currently runs a two year full time MBA programme with focus on Management Systems, a two year full time MBA with focus on Telecommunications System and a three year part time MBA programme with focus on Technology Management. The department has undertaken several consultancy projects on behalf of government departments such as Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Rural Development. It has been ranked among the top business schools in India by various education surveys. The Training Cell and Placement Cell of the institute facilitates employment opportunities for graduating students through campus recruitment in leading companies. In 2012, the highest domestic salary package offered at the campus was Rs. 19 lakh p.a. while the average salary offered was Rs 13.46 lakh p.a. A total of 116 offers were made by the companies to a batch of 96 students.

Campus

The DMS-IIT campus spreads across 320 acres showcasing a perfect blend of architecture and natural beauty. The campus hosts five lecture theatres, an auditorium with a seating capacity of 140 people, syndicate rooms, seminar hall and cafeteria. The departmental library features an extensive collection of books, audio-visual resources, annual reports and periodicals. It also houses different laboratories such as Research Lab, Simulation Lab, Computational Lab, Behavioral Lab and Strategy & Competitiveness Lab. For creative and recreational activities the institute provides Dramatics Club, Music Club, Literacy Club, Indoor Sports Club and Debates and Quizzing Club. For outdoor games activities it provides cricket, hockey and football ground; volleyball, basket ball, tennis and squash courts; athletics track and a swimming pool.

General Information

Admission

Admission to the MBA course is based on a valid CAT score. The candidates should have bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering/pharmacy/architecture/technology/B.Sc agricultural engineering; or the candidates should have Master’s degree in any discipline like information science, electronic science, environmental science, operations research, physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer application. Admission to the P hd programme is made on the basis of an interview conducted by the Department/Centre concerned through its Department Research Committee (DRC)/Centre Research Committee (CRC). Fees Rs.30,900 needs to be paid at the time of admission and fees for every subsequent semester is Rs.26,700.

Achievement

DMS-IIT D has been ranked No.11 among top B-schools in India by the Business World survey.

Accommodation

DMS provides separate hostels for boys and girls. Each hostel includes a mess, common room, reading room, indoor games room, gym and other facilities.
