Overview

Founded on November 24, 1969, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar is an autonomous residential university established to commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The university imparts education to 20,000 students in various faculties at the university campus and constituent colleges. GNDU is the first university of the region to introduce online admissions, on-line counselling for state level admissions and credit based evaluation system. The university today boasts 35 academic departments, 148 affiliated colleges and 71 associate institutes. The university aims at spreading the message of the Guru and promoting education in fields such as Science, Arts, Management, Information Technology, Industrial Technology, Environment, Planning and Architecture.

Campus

Guru Nanak Dev University is located in two distinct regional campuses: 1. Jalandhar campus- Guru Nanak Dev University established its regional campus at Jalandhar in 1979 with English, Punjabi and Law departments. Later in 2003, it developed its own sprawling and beautiful campus with the addition of three prestigious professional courses such as Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics &Communication Engineering and School of Legal studies. The campus hosts a well-stocked library featuring 30,000 books, journals, internet facility, PCO, photostat, canteen, stationary shop, and reading room. Other amenities available in the campus include canteen, bank, bus service, and a residential complex. 2. Gurdaspur Campus:Guru Nanak Dev University, regional campus, Gurdaspur was set up in 1999. The campus provides a healthy environment for the students and offers following facilities: a. Two well-stocked libraries with around 19,000 books and subscription to various articles, magazines and newspapers. b. Well-equipped Internet Lab, Database Lab, Programming Lab, Multi-Media Lab,ED Lab, Microprocessor Lab, Microwave Lab, Digital Electronics Lab, Digital Processing Lab, and PCB Lab. c. Canteen and dispensary facilities for the students.

Admission

For UG courses- Normalisation of marks will be done on the basis of marks obtained by a candidate in Senior Secondary (+2) examination conducted by C.B.S.E., I.C.S.E., and P.S.E.B. in the state of Punjab and U.T. of Chandigarh. In science stream normalisation of marks will be done on the basis of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB). The higher marks obtained in Mathematics or Biology will be considered for normalisation. For PG courses- Normalisation of marks will be done on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination for students graduating from universities in Punjab. Note- There will be no normalisation of marks for students from other states or boards. Online forms are available for different courses. Each application form must be accompanied by application fee of Rs.1000(for general category candidates) or Rs.500(for SC/ST candidates). However for B.Tech./B.Arch.courses,(except B.Tech.
