Overview

Tezpur University, Assam is a central university established by an Act of the Parliament in 1994. The university initially operated from the premises of the Darrang College in Tezpur and later shifted to its present premises at Napaam, a suburb of Tezpur. Tezpur University aims to render itself as one of the most preferred destinations of students, faculty and scholars/and employees.

Campus

Spread over 262 acres, the university campus houses a central library stocked with 65873 volumes of print documents and subscription to 630 titles of current journals (print 128, online 502), computer centre with campus LAN of optical fibers connecting the academic as well as administrative departments spread over the entire university campus, health centre with medical staff comprising of a pharmacist, a laboratory technician and a nurse, the facilities available in the health centre include ECG machine and autoanalyser, an ultrasound scanner and weekly visits of specialists in disciplines like Radiology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The campus also houses a guest house with 45 furnished rooms, a 30-seater conference room, a 40-seater air conditioned dining hall, lounges, catering that serves vegetarian, non-vegetarian and continental cuisines, the guest house is within the reach of ATM, post office and banks. The university’s sports complex comprises a football ground, volleyball ground, basketball court, gymnasium, badminton court, and tennis court among others.

For details please visit JEE website: www.jeemain.nic.in. Approximately 60 percent of the seats are filled in by the candidates of North East (NE) states. The candidates of NE states qualifying in the JEE (Main) should apply to this university for admission against seats reserved for NE domicile candidates for which counseling is held at Tezpur University. The remaining 40 percent of the seats are filled in through the Central Counseling conducted by the CBSE. Direct Admissions Candidates from NE states securing any of the top 5 positions in the examinations conducted by the Higher Secondary Board/Council of the states with an aggregate of 85 percent or more marks will be directly admitted BTech and with an aggregate of 80 percent or above marks will be admitted to the integrated programmes (per programme not more than five candidates). Applicants of MTech programmes with valid GATE score may apply for direct admission without the entrance examinations provided they meet the cut-off score. PhD Admissions Candidates must have consistently good academic records and admissions are on the basis of performance in the written test and personal interview conducted by the concerned departments.
