DAV University, Jalandhar is a multi-disciplinary private institution, home to faculties of teaching excellence in subjects from engineering to languages to natural sciences including physical and life sciences. The university is promoted by DAV College Managing Committee which is India’s single largest non-government educational organization managing more than 800 institutions in the country. The University traces its roots to the legacy that has been reforming and redefining India’s educational scenario for 130 years. The University has been established by a Legislative Act of the Punjab Government and empowered to confer degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.
The setting up of the University is the culmination of the movement that started with the founding of the first DAV School in Lahore on June 1, 1886 to propagate the ideals of the religious and social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati.
The university has adopted five surrounding villages and doing many works of public welfare there. The university is in the process of getting National Assessment and Accreditation Council and Indian Council of Agricultural Research accreditation.
The sprawling 72-acre campus of DAV University is well equipped with modern amenities ensuring the all-round development of students. The campus hosts state of the art buildings, canteens, spacious parking lots, playgrounds, and sports and fitness facilities. The campus is Wi Fi enabled and the classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids. There is a bank and an ATM within the campus. The university admits students either based on marks of the last qualifying examination or it may conduct own entrance (PhD entrance) tests for admission in various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs.
For B Tech and MBA admissions, candidates need to write the DAVUMET entrance test. After filling in the requisite details, the candidate needs to follow instructions as mentioned in the website.
For courses other than B Tech and MBA, the student needs to fill in the application online and deposit Rs 1000 towards application fee and the requisite component of the admission fee on-line according to details given in the prospectus or the component of the same decided by DAVU on-line. They need to attach self-attested copies of the downloaded application form and send them along with the fee receipt to the email registrar @davuniversity.org for the validation of the application.
