Himali boarding School (HBS) is a co-educational day-cum-residential school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, and the Cambridge Assessment University International Examinations (CAIE), UK. It offers classes from kindergarten to class XII and ranked number one among co-ed boarding schools in Kurseong and West Bengal in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2019-20.
Himali boarding School (HBS) is located in the picturesque town of Kurseong in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal and was promoted in 1978 by Major and Mrs. T.B. Subba of Kurseong and J.B. Careeck of Sussex, England.
The HBS campus offers bright, well ventilated classrooms, fully equipped science and computer labs, a well-stocked library and world class facilities for sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, athletics, cricket and table tennis. The school also boasts a fully-equipped state of the art gymnasium. Aerobics sessions are presided over by a well-qualified instructor.
The canteen serves wholesome, well balanced meals prepared under the supervision of a trained nutritionist.
The school is affiliated to CISCE and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations at class X and XII respectively. Being affiliated to CAIE, the school offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the AS-A Levels curriculum as well.
The academic year runs from February/March to November; HBS offers a choice of science, commerce and humanities streams from class IX onwards. HBS offers a world-class academic programme in lower classes, thus enabling individual and personal attention to each student.
Extracurricular:
HBS places emphasis on co-curricular and extracurricular activities and students are encouraged to participate in a variety of inter house and inter school events.
