Overview

Pawar Public School (PPS), Bhandup, Mumbai is a co-educational day school, promoted in 2005. It is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The school offers state-of-the-art academic infrastructure supported by well-trained teachers.

The objective of PPS is to “provide all its students with excellent, comprehensive, and all-round education that will transform them, from being mere children, into well educated and cultured young men and women”.

PPS is promoted by the Pawar Public Charitable Trust, led by its managing trustee Supriya Sule. The trust runs four other schools in Pune and Mumbai and is involved in working towards the upliftment of the nomadic tribal communities by imparting basic of education to them through Ashram Shalas.

Campus

Classrooms are equipped with the latest IT equipment and provide curriculum-based digital learning. The school’s library is well-stocked with resource and reference books, and well-furnished. The library follows an open access system, enabling students to browse and easily access books of their choice.

PPS provides separate laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and computers, which host the latest equipment and technology. The two computer labs provide one machine per child. The school also has mathematics and social science labs.

The auditorium is furnished with adequate light and sound systems and can seat 500 people. A fully-equipped medical room with 4 beds is managed by a trained nurse. A doctor is available on-call in emergencies.

There are rooms dedicated to dance and music. The canteen provides wholesome and hygienic food to the students and teachers. The school also has separate rooms for arts and crafts. There are two separate playgrounds for students. Facilities for carom, chess, table tennis, badminton, skating, athletics, gymnastics and basketball are provided.

The school has a tie-up with a transport service provider and ensures that in addition to the driver, there is a lady attendant and male attendant present in the bus all the time.

Academics

The school is affiliated with CICSE and offers nursery to class X education. The XSEED programme of iDiscoveri is followed from nursery to class V. ‘Experential learning’ is used by teachers to help students understand and assimilate subjects. The Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation system is followed in pre-primary and primary school.

Three professional counselors help students with learning and behavioural problems. They also help with psycho-educational problems such as depression, low self-esteem, and learning disabilities.

Extracurricular education
The school offers table tennis, badminton, chess, carrom, taekwondo, basketball, volleyball, football, handball, and throwball. Training is provided in dance and vocal music.

Admission

Children should be 2.5-3.5 years for admission into nursery. Only children residing in Bhandup can apply. Forms are usually issued in November. There are no vacancies in other classes.
