Established in 1970 in Sector 41-B Mohali, the Shivalik Public School is a co educational, English medium residential-cum-day school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school endeavors to provide holistic education to its students from kindergarten to class XII. Spread across 30,000 square yards in Mohali, the school provides indoor deco-turf tennis court, astro -turf hockey ground, badminton court, table tennis equipment, a fully-equipped fitness centre, a state-of-the-art auditorium and gymnasium hall. Set amidst sprawling lawns, the four octagonal blocks, each accommodate about a thousand students. The administrative block is all inter-connected to the main building by corridors and staircases. A ramp way has also been provided for the convenience and smooth passage of the students.
There are well-equippedcomputerlabs offering the latest software, computer peripheral devices and networking systems. Equipped with independent computer labs, one each for junior and senior classes, the school ensures learning is both fun and educative.
The school also has a language lab and three science laboratories. A slidoscope, projectors and other apparatus are used in teaching all science-based topics. The library is computerized, and is stocked with 12,000 volumes including 40 sets of encyclopedia, periodicals and newspapers.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the curriculum is as per CBSE guidelines. With a focus on quality education, classroom teaching is interactive and effectively supported by multimedia teaching aids. Teachers are encouraged to offer individual attention to students.
Extracurricular
The school offers coaching in dance, music, painting and other arts. Sports like cricket, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, athletics and gymnastics are offered.
Art and Craft section plays an important role. Students are taught the art of painting including emboss, nib, oil and glass painting.
