Rajkumar College, Chhattisgarh is coeducational day cum residential school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The school was established in 1882 at Jabalpur by Sir Andrews Frazer, the then chief commissioner of CP & Berar. The school was shifted from Jabalpur to Raipur in 1894 making it a full- fledged school with boarding facilities. The school offers education from Kindergarten to class XII.
The school is managed by the Rajkumar College Society, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), registered under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act. The management of the school is vested in the hands of a governing body which includes the school alumni, parents and the governors of Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Bihar.
The school is spread over 125 acres in the heart of the city of Raipur, one of the few public schools in the country to have such a huge campus. The campus hosts spacious buildings and play fields, an air conditioned auditorium that can accommodate 1700 people, the Stow Hall used for daily morning assembly, lectures and talks by visitors and for other cultural programs; the Sarangarh dining hall can accommodate over 600 students.
The school hosts a separate building for junior section called the Tagore House, the building for middle section is the Madhya Pradesh Bhawan, the music and art department is the Shukla Bhavan and there is the library block.
The school campus houses multiple football and hockey fields; the cricket ground is of Ranji Trophy standard with the majestic Sonepur Pavilion. The school also has courts for basket ball, volley ball, tennis and squash. The school also has facilities for archery, horse riding and rifle shooting. In addition to the existing swimming pool, a new state of the art Olympic size swimming pool is under construction.
Rajkumar College ensures all round development by laying emphasis on both modern and traditional teaching. Class rooms are equipped with Educomp SmartClass solutions and the school offers state-of-the-art computer labs. The school also offers exchange programs for teachers and students. The school boasts a well staffed and well equipped music and arts section and it is in negotiation with the Indira Fine Arts and Music University, Khairagarh – the one and the only university of its kind in India, to start Diploma and Degree courses to enable the students to obtain additional qualification in fine arts, music and dance.
The school offers CISCE curriculum and offers classes from nursery to class XII with each class having three to four sections and each section having about 25-30 students. The medium of instruction is English with strong emphasis on Hindi.
The school offers counseling for parents to enable them to encourage their sons and daughters to seek independent honorable careers, provides courses of higher studies that directly prepare students for civil services, defense services, engineering, medical, business, accounting and imparting administrative training. The school has remedial classes for academically weak students. The school also has a career counseling cell to provide information about the careers to be chosen by the students.

Admissions are granted to day scholars from nursery to kindergarten II and for boarders from class I onwards. Admissions start in December; application forms can either be downloaded from the school website or collected from the school office. Submission of the application form must be done along with a demand draft of Rs. 6000/- drawn in favour of Rajkumar College Society, Raipur along with other documents listed in the form. The application must be submitted before January 31.
For classes other than IX and XI, parents of the students seeking admission are given a date to visit the school and admissions are on the basis of a draw of lots conducted in February.
Age criteria for admission:
A child seeking admission to nursery should be 2.7 years as of June in the year in which admission is sought. Age criteria for other classes are calculated accordingly.
Fees
The school fee for new admissions comprises charges for school patrika – Rs. 1,000/-, registration fee of Rs 5,000/-, development fee (payable only once at the time of admission) of Rs. 70,000.
The annual tuition fee for nursery to kindergarten II is 70,000/-, for boarding students of classes I to XII the fees is Rs. 1,72,000.
Students of classes IX to XII have an additional fee of Rs 6000 yearly for computer and allied subjects.
Books, stationery, uniform and accessories have to be procured by the parents themselves.
