Akshar School, sited at Diamond Harbour Road in Kolkata, is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certification Examinations (CISCE). The Rajpal Khullar Memorial Trust – a non-profit charitable organization under the able guidance of Professor Yashpal Sharma, an eminent educationist and scientist, founded the school on June 18, 1998.
Akshar is an integrated school, which caters to the needs of children with special needs along with regular children. The school offers education from lower KG to class X and has a total student strength of 400 and faculty strength of 60.
Akshar School is a member of The International Award for Young People, India (Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme), Japan Karate Association of India, Bharat Scouts and Guides and SPICMACAY.
The school offers spacious and well-ventilated classrooms furnished with modern furniture. The campus hosts a computer centre, AV room with Kyan to make learning more interactive, a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, computer studies, home science and SUPW, a resource room for remedial teaching, a canteen and a life skills unit.
Akshar School is affiliated with CISCE and offers classes from Lower KG to class X. Each class accommodates 24 students and a special educator assists children with special needs.
The curriculum has been designed with an aim to aid self learning and impart learning which helps establish correlation between subjects and everyday events that interest the child. Practical work, projects and hands-on approach are emphasized and performance of the students is continuously assessed during the academic year. Examinations are conducted only after class V.
Inclusion of children with special needs is one of the main focus areas of the school, for which it follows a well-structured programme.
Extracurricular: The school promotes various clubs such as the nature club, science club, computer club, reading club, literary club that conducts debate, elocution and storytelling and quiz club.
Co-curricular activities include calligraphy, non-fire cooking, bulbul/cubs and scouts/guides, dance – classical and contemporary, music, drama, puppetry, clay modeling, art, craft, and yoga.
Sports activities include tennis (Enrico Piperno in partnership with the Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academy, basketball, cricket, soccer, kho-kho, karate (affiliated to The Japan Karate Association of India), bowling and chess.

Eligibility:
For admission in LKG the child should be three years plus as on April 1, 2013, four years plus for UKG and five years plus for class I.
Registrations can also be done online and the registration process closes in mid September.
