According to an official release on April 25, American Express India has presented a grant of USD 99,000 (approximately INR 65 lakh) to American India Foundation – a non-profit dedicated to catalysing social and economic change in India and building a lasting bridge between the United States and India – as a part of their initiative to promote literacy by enabling quality education in under-served schools across Delhi NCR and Rajasthan.
American Express reiterated its commitment to promoting literacy in India through a grant that will provide technology-enabled quality education to students in underserved schools. The grant will support the “Digital equaliser” initiative by the American India Foundation. The grant was made in the presence of Kenneth I. Juster, U.S. Ambassador to India at a reception hosted by USISPF (US India Strategic Partnership Forum).
Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Adlakha, SVP and CEO, American Express Banking Corp., India said, “At American Express we believe that serving our communities is not only integral to running a business successfully, it is part of our individual responsibilities as citizens of the world. Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility is a natural extension of our vision to provide the world’s best customer experience every day. This initiative supports our commitment to build relationships with the communities where our colleagues and card members live and work. Our heritage of our service, security and trust assures our communities, customers and employees that American Express has their back, and will help them achieve the most out of their lives.”
Adlakha, added “I am grateful to the US India Strategic Partnership Forum for their role in helping us identify the right partner and supporting our CSR endeavor. The American India Foundation’s education programmes ensure that some of the most marginalised groups have access to high-quality educational opportunities to prepare them for success in today’s globalised world. We are happy to support their efforts in this direction.”
