Amity International, Noida & Pushp Vihar bag Winner’s Trophy at Youth Power 2024-25

Amity’s youth newspaper, The Global Times, recently organised the Grand Finale of the 16th Youth Power, a year-long social sensitising leadership programme for Amity Group of Schools, which prepares the youth to ‘Be the change’ and ‘Bring the change’. Amity International School Noida and Amity International School Pushp Vihar were jointly adjudged as the winners of Youth Power-2024-25. The team from AIS Saket was declared the first runner up, while AIS Mayur Vihar and AIS Sector- 43 Gurgaon was the second runner up. Jury special mention award was jointly shared by AIS VKC, Lucknow and AIS Sector- 46, Gurgaon.

The grand finale of Youth Power 2023-24 felicitated and recognised the young changemakers of Amity for their indomitable spirit of service above self and their ground-breaking social initiatives. Twelve finalist teams, from Amity International Schools pan India, presented diverse issues through their mesmerising presentations on various topics such as “Noise Pollution” (AIS Gur 43), “Visual Impairment”(AIS Gur 46), “Make in India” (AIS Mayur Vihar), “Heart Health” (AIS Noida), “Writing by Hand” (AIS Pushp Vihar), “Fight Asthma” (AIS Saket), “Menstrual Matters” (AIS Vasundhara Sector- 1), “Save Birds” (AIS Vasundhara Sector- 6), “Heritage of Lucknow” (AIS VKC Lucknow), “Revival of Storytelling” (AIS VYC Lucknow), “Save Paper” (AIS Jagdishpur) and “Respect Women” (AIS Gwalior). The jury comprised of Steve Rocha, chief visionary and identity leader at PRATYeK and NINEISMINE and Sumitra Goenka, entrepreneur, activist, thinker and speaker.

Lauding the students’ outstanding presentation skills, Dr. Amita Chauhan, chairperson, Amity Group of Schools, said, “The students’ presentations were outstanding and full of creativity. The way they presented the various themes was remarkable, therefore all teams are winners. Through Youth Power, it is our endeavour to instil the qualities values of sensitivity, compassion, confidence, care and creative thinking amongst the students. They must have belief in themselves and work hard to achieve their goals.”

Advising the students, chief guest, Preeti Yadav, DCP, Police Commissionerate, Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “The students showcased their exceptional talent and creativity by raising these important issues which are prevalent in the society. Along with studies, participation in extracurricular activities is of utmost importance for the holistic development of children. The aim of the Police is to serve the society and help people, therefore, no one should be scared or feel hesitant to reach out to the Police, in case of any problem. Students must visit their local Police Stations and see how the Police Force works and learn from them.” She called upon the students to develop a hobby, remain focused, work hard to achieve their goals, make friends and become responsible citizens of the country.     

Introducing the concept of Youth Power, Vira Sharma, managing editor, The Global Times, said, “Youth Power, a visionary initiative of our Chairperson Ma’am, Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, has successfully completed 16 years of nurturing ethical leaders and social change ambassadors at Amity. The programme, held under the aegis of The Global Times, the registered weekly youth newspaper of the Amity Group, has raised awareness about several social issues and sensitised over five lakh students and developed more than 2,000 ethical leaders across India.”

On this occasion, Rishabh Yadav, an Alumni of Amity International School Sector-43 Gurgaon was felicitated for his outstanding achievement, by winning the Gold & Bronze Medals in mix team and Team event respectively at Archery World Cup, Florida USA. The Grand Finale was graced by Dr. Pooja Chauhan, chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation and Mehtaab Chauhan, assistant director digital marketing, along with the principals, teachers and students of Amity International schools.

In addition, many awards under various categories were presented to different school teams. The “Best Outreach Programme” Award was given to AIS Mayur Vihar, “Best Social Implementation” Award was won by AIS Gurgaon Sector-46, the award for the “Best Panel Discussion” was presented to AIS VYC Lucknow, among other awards.
