Apple Kids, Royapettah, formerly known as Little Orchids Playschool, was the first franchisee of the Apple Kids chain of preschools in Chennai. Promoted in 2005 by Padma Achar and Mallika Ravi with an initial enrolment of 15 students, the preschool has now grown to over 100 students.
The campus is spread over an area of more than 3,000 square feet and has an outdoor and indoor play area with child friendly and eco-friendly play equipment. The preschool recruits faculty on the basis of their qualifications, communicative and linguistic skills, experience and their interest in children. Apple Kids also offers personal counseling for parents.
The parent Apple Kids is ISO 9001:2000 certified.
The campus is child-friendly with an indoor play zone equipped with imported non-toxic play equipment and foam-based flooring, which according to a preschool spokesperson is the first-of-its-kind in India.
The preschool has earmarked special zones for learning, activity and audio-visual activities. Other facilities include a gym with imported gym equipment for children of all ages.
Apple Kids, Royapettah offers the following programs:
Play Group program for children of 1.5 to 2.5 years
Pre-KG program for children of 2.5 yrs to 3.5 yrs
Junior KG for children of 3.5 yrs to 4.5 yrs
Senior KG for children of 4.5 yrs to 5.5 yrs
The school also offers day care services for children aged 1.5 yrs to 3.5 yrs from 9 am to 5 pm.
The curriculum has been designed keeping in mind the all-round development of children and their cognitive, physical, social, emotional and sensorial abilities. Children learn in an eco-friendly environment in consonance with innovative teaching methodologies. The focus is on learning by doing.
The preschool uses learning aids and an activity tool designed by specialists, and also imparts computer education using computer-based audio & video visual teaching aids.
