Ayushi Patel: The NEET candidate against whom court has sought action

June 19, 2024

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by Ayushi Patel pertaining to her NEET 2024 results and allowed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to take legal action against her.

It may be recalled that Patel’s video on social media went viral recently. She claimed that her results were not announced by the NTA citing damages to the answer script.

The Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition filed by Patel after finding discrepancies in her claims regarding a damaged OMR answer sheet. In her petition, Patel had demanded a manual evaluation of her OMR sheet and action against the NTA.

In her video, Patel had claimed that she anticipated a score of 715 based on the answer keys released by the NTA. However, she received a result with a different application number showing only 335 marks. She claimed that the NTA had failed to announce her results on the result day and responded to her e-mail later with photographs of the torn answer script.

Based on the demands put forth by the court, the NTA furnished a copy of the original OMR sheet, which showed no damage.

Based on this, the court said that this is a case of “forged documents” and dismissed the petition while allowing the NTA to take legal action against Patel.

Soon after her video went viral, congress leader, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a knee jerk reaction shared her video and said that this was part of the other discrepancies with NEET this year. She also advised the government to “give up careless attitude”. However, with the court order, Gandhi was met with severe criticism online.

BJP National spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawala took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “I demand not only an apology by @priyankagandhi but also legal action. Also investigation whether Congress sponsored Ayushi Patel to make false claims. Congress Jhooth Ki Dukaan.”(sic).
