Bihar: BPSC implements tough measures against cheating in teachers’ recruitment exam

July 17, 2024

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) announced on Tuesday that it has implemented enhanced security measures to prevent paper leaks and other misconduct in the Teachers Recruitment Exam (TRE-3), scheduled to commence on July 19.

These measures include using multiple sets of question papers, e-admit cards with barcodes, and installing jammers at all 400 examination centers. The BPSC had previously canceled the TRE-3 held on March 15 due to a question paper leak.

Speaking at a press conference, BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai stated, “The BPSC has introduced significant changes to its recruitment examinations to prevent paper leaks and other misconduct. These measures will be enforced at all TRE-3 examination centers across Bihar from July 19 to 22.”

The exam will take place over three days—July 19 to 21 in one sitting and July 22 in two sittings—across more than 400 centers in 27 districts. Approximately 600,000 candidates are expected to participate.

Manubhai further explained, “We have prepared multiple sets of question papers, and the decision on which set to distribute will be made shortly before the exam. The District Magistrate will receive notification of the specific set around 9 am on the exam day. Each sitting will incorporate surprise elements, with different color-coded question papers.”

He added, “Jammers will be installed at every center to prevent unauthorized communication. About 10,000 CCTV cameras will be deployed and monitored from a central command hub at the BPSC office.”

Additionally, new procedures have been introduced for transporting question papers from printing presses to examination centers.

“This time, question papers will be printed at various locations. Sealed papers, featuring enhanced security measures, will be transported directly to centers using GPS-enabled trucks, accompanied by senior government officials,” Manubhai elaborated.

Candidates failing fingerprint or facial recognition verification after repeated attempts will face legal consequences. Those caught engaging in misconduct will be banned from all future BPSC exams.
