Indore’s Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on a city college managed by Akshay Kanti Bam, who recently switched from the Congress to the BJP, for allegedly leaking an MBA exam paper last month. Bam made headlines in April after withdrawing his Congress nomination for the Indore Lok Sabha seat and joining the BJP.
On June 7, police arrested a computer operator and two students from Idyllic Institute of Management for leaking the “Quantitative Techniques” MBA paper on social media before the May 25 exam. The Idyllic Institute of Management, which is affiliated with DAVV and chaired by Bam, was found to have committed a serious lapse in securing the confidential question paper.
Following an investigation, DAVV Vice-Chancellor Renu Jain confirmed the imposition of the fine and announced additional measures. The college will be prohibited from acting as an exam center for the next three years, pending a committee decision on its DAVV affiliation.
Bam stated that he was informed of DAVV’s decision through media reports and awaits formal communication before taking any further action.
