BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), run by the Bengaluru-based BMS Educational Trust, is a co-educational autonomous college affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and approved by the Delhi-based All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Founded by Late Sri. Bhusanayana Mukundas Sreenivasaiah (BMS), an eminent industrialist and philanthropist, in 1946, it is the first private engineering college to be promoted in pre-independent India. Currently BMSCE offers 38 programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate programs, and doctorate (Ph D) levels, and houses 14 research centres on-campus. It has an enrolment of approximately 5,000 students.

The BMS College campus has state-of-the-art academic facilities to ensure a holistic environment for students. The library is aesthetically located in a central place of the college and is very prominently housed in a big and spacious building with a floor area of 49500 sq.ft. Sports facilities on campus include indoor & outdoor courts/fields for a variety of sports like archery, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, football, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, kho-kho, netball, powerlifting, swimming, tennis, table tennis, throwball, volleyball, softball, yoga, wrestling and weight lifting. The Majestic Indoor Stadium at B.M.S.C.E is the result of the Physical Education Director’s vision and hard work and also the encouragement by BMS Management.
The college also houses hostel facilities for residential students along with a main hostel dining block and a multi-purpose hall within the hostel complex.

SportsAdmission to BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru is based on qualifying entrance tests. Students should have completed the class XII state/CBSE/ICSE and equivalent board examinations and cleared either the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Karnataka government or the COMEDK (consortium of medical, engineering and dental colleges of Karnataka) test.
45 percent of seats are reserved for candidates qualifying CET, 30 percent for those qualifying COMEDK and 25 percent are reserved as management seats. Among international students there is a quota for Persons of Indian Origin.
Admission to postgraduate programs is through the common entrance test conducted by the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
Fees: Tuition fee for B.E., B.Tech, and other UG programs is Rs. 15,000-30,000 annually for CET students, Rs.1-1.37 lakh for COMEDK students and $3000-5000 for international students. For students getting management quota seats, fees is Rs.2-3.5 lakh annually.
Scholarships/free ships are offered to deserving students under various schemes by the government as well as by the management, details of which can be obtained from the office.
BMSCE is ranked among the top 10 private engineering colleges in the Education World India Engineering Colleges Rankings 2020-21.
BMSCE was ranked 69 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) engineering ranking in 2019 and 40 by Outlook India’s “India’s Top 150 Engineering Colleges in 2019”. It was ranked 24th among engineering colleges by India Today in 2020.

BMSET Hostels gives a distinct advantage of befriending with students from across the globe and expose them different religions, languages and customs of countries. Additionally, living as a community in the hostel will lead to all-round development of personality of a hostelite and will definitely go a long way in fostering world-class citizens.
Hostels are independent units in respects to its internal administration under the overall supervision of council of wardens and the hostel management. The hostels are located in the southern side and adjacent to the college campus and have a separate hostel office and mess within the hostel premises.
The mess has a centralized modern kitchen and a separate dining hall for boys and girls. General menus for each month is are decided by the hostelite representatives selected by the hostels. Special menus are introduced and served on all important festivals. A multi-purpose hall and the main hostel dining block are also housed within the hostel complex.
