What is Data Science and Analytics?
Data science is an interdisciplinary field using scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data and applying them across a broad range of application domains. Analytics is the systematic computational analysis of data or statistics. Data Analytics is used for the discovery, interpretation and communication of meaningful patterns in data and applies those patterns towards effective decision making and the simultaneous application of statistics, computer programming and operations research to quantify performance.
Job Description
- Responsibilities of a data scientist and analyst include processing, analysing and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
- Preparing reports based on analysis that effectively communicate trends and predictions and presenting to management
- Data mining from primary and secondary sources and reorganising data using state-of-the-art methods
- Designing and maintaining data and analytic systems and databases including fixing coding errors and other data-related problems
