What is Dermatology?
Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin and diseases of the skin. It is a specialty with medical and surgical aspects and involves the study, research and diagnosis of conditions and disorders of the skin, scalp, hair and nails. Cancers, cosmetic and aging conditions of the skin, fat, hair, nails and oral and genital membranes are aspects of dermatology.
Job Description
- Responsibilities of a dermatologist include evaluating patient skin conditions, screening for disease and offering skin consultations and diagnoses
- Prescribing medication for the treatment of skin conditions
- Performing non-intrusive medical surgeries and procedures on the skin
- Educating patients on proper skin health and preventive skin care
