What is Fashion Photography?

Fashion photography is the genre of photography focused on the display of fashion clothing and items. Fashion photography is most commonly conducted for advertisements and fashion magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue and Elle. Fashion photography has developed its own aesthetic by featuring models wearing clothes and fashion enhanced by accessories and exotic locations. Fashion photographers not only focus on the aesthetic and technicalities of photography but also adjust the clothing, accessories, hair and makeup of models to prepare the shot in accordance with the location and the target audience.

Job Description

• Responsibilities of a fashion photographer include taking= photos based on the clients’ specifications
• Collaborating with fashion labels, designers and stylists to generate unique concepts for photo shoots
• Directing on set, instructing stylists and models and coordinating set personnel
• Using props, back drafts, different types of light and modern photography technologies to produce creative and stylist fashion photo concepts that will engage consumer
