CBSE to conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year from 2026

CBSE asks affiliated schools to support NIOS exams

July 15, 2025

The Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) has issued a notification urging its affiliated schools to assist in conducting the upcoming National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Public Examinations scheduled for October-November 2025.

Schools interested in participating are instructed to submit their willingness through an online form available on the official NIOS website: https://exams.nios.ac.in/ >> Examination Centre >> Register Now

In a communication addressed to school principals and heads, CBSE underlined the crucial role that institutional cooperation and infrastructure play in smooth conduct of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) public exams held bi-annually for classes 10 & 12, and various vocational courses.

These exams cater to a diverse group of students, including many from disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds for whom conventional education might be inaccessible.

“The next Public Examinations of NIOS are scheduled for October/November 2025,” the board stated, encouraging schools to offer their facilities for use as examination centres.

The upcoming exams represents a key step in promoting inclusive and accessible education for all learners, according to the board.

Operating under the Ministry of Education, NIOS is recognised as the largest Open Schooling system in the world with a network of five departments, 23 regional centres, two sub regional centres, two NIOS Cells, and more than 7400 study centres (AIs/AVIs) spread across the country and abroad. It plays a pivotal role in promoting inclusive education through its wide array of academic options for classes 10 & 12, apart from vocational and life enrichment programmes.
