CEPT University’s Faculty of Planning Opens Admissions for 2025 UG & PG Programs

March 7, 2025

The Faculty of Planning (FP) at CEPT University has announced the commencement of applications for its undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the academic year 2025. Recognized as a pioneer in planning education, CEPT University has been at the forefront of shaping urban development in India since the establishment of its School of Planning in 1972.

With India’s urban population expected to surpass 50% by 2050, the demand for skilled urban planners and designers has never been higher. CEPT University aims to bridge this gap by offering industry-focused, multidisciplinary programs in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Urban Housing, Urban Infrastructure, and Urban Transport Systems. The university, ranked 6th in the NIRF rankings, was recently designated as a Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design by the Government of India.

Comprehensive Programs to Address Urban Challenges

The Faculty of Planning offers a range of programs designed to equip students with real-world problem-solving skills through its studio-based learning approach.

  • Bachelor’s in Urban Design (BUD) (5 years): Focuses on designing urban spaces, streetscapes, and public areas.
  • Master’s in Urban Planning (MUP) (2 years): Covers land use, transport, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
  • Master’s in Urban Housing (MUH) (2 years): Prepares professionals for housing development, real estate, and policy formulation.
  • Master’s in Urban Infrastructure (MUI) (2 years): Specializes in urban service delivery, with an optional WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) major supported by IHE Delft.
  • Master’s in Urban Transport Systems (MUTS) (2 years): Focuses on transport planning, design, and management.
  • Master’s in Urban Design (MUD) (2 years): Explores public space design, urban regeneration, and sustainable urbanism.

With an emphasis on hands-on learning, research-driven curriculum, and real-world application, CEPT’s programs prepare graduates for careers in consulting firms, government agencies, NGOs, and urban development organizations.

“As India rapidly urbanizes, the role of trained urban planners is critical in ensuring inclusive and sustainable development,” said Prof. Shalini Sinha, Dean, Faculty of Planning, CEPT University. “Our programs provide students with the technical and strategic skills needed to address complex urban challenges.”

The university also offers merit-based pre-admission scholarships to encourage deserving students to pursue careers in urban planning.

Applications for the UG and PG programs are now open. For further details on admissions and scholarships, visit CEPT University’s official website.
