The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Thursday asked its affiliated schools to submit the “average marks” scored by their 2021 ICSE batch of students in the internal examinations conducted by the schools.
The internal marks will be used for devising “ a fair and an unbiased criterion” for preparing the results of the 2021 ICSE candidates, the council said in a circular issued to heads of all ICSE schools on Thursday night.
On April 19 the CISCE had cancelled the 2021 ICSE examinations in view of the “worsening” Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.
The heads today have been asked to provide the marks obtained by the students in the internal examinations of both Class IX and X.
In the circular, Gerry Arathoon, CISCE chief executive and secretary said: “ As stated in in our circulars dated 16th April and 19th April, 2021 respectively, the CISCE is resolute and committed to “a fair and an unbiased criterion” while preparing the results of the ICSE Year 2021 candidates, under the given circumstances.”
“In this regard, the CISCE is in the process of collating and collecting data, which will be required from all our schools. Therefore, you are requested to provide the following information of the candidates registered & confirmed for the ICSE Year 2021 examination.”
The “information” that have been sought by the council include the “average marks” of “papers/subjects” scored by concerned candidates in the examinations conducted by the schools at the Class IX level for the academic year 2019-20 and Class X level of academic year 2020-21 in percentage form (out of 100 marks).
For the 2021 ICSE batch, their Class IX annual examinations were conducted by the schools using question papers prepared by the council. The schools have been asked to submit the Class IX mark sheet of all the candidates.
The subjects in which the marks are to be sent must be the same for which candidates have been registered and confirmed for appearing in the 2021 ICSE examinations.
The marks will have to be submitted online through the internal assessment module on the Careers portal of the council.
The internal assessment module will be activated from Friday April 30. The schools will have to upload the marks of both Class IX and X latest by May 15.
In states where total lockdown has been imposed can submit the same latest by May 22.
“Any delay in the submission of the above information will subsequently affect the processing and cause delay in the declaration of the ICSE Year 2021 results,” the circular read.
In circular issued by the CISCE on April 16, it had said that ICSE students would be given two options. The students could choose to write the offline examinations with the Class XII candidates or they could opt to not appear in the examination. If they chose to not write the test a fair and unbiased criterion would be developed for their evaluation. In the April19 the two options were withdrawn.
