The month of August saw Sarala Birla Academy hosting the CISCE State Tennis Tournament. It was quite a gala affair spread over three days, with more than 150 boys and girls from 38 schools participating in the tournament. There were also more than 100 Coaches, Managers, Officials and Volunteers to ensure a smooth, orderly functioning and the SBA Sports Department played a stellar role and ensured there was effective coordination amongst all of them.
The newly laid surface at the Tennis Courts made for a satisfying outing for all the players and most of the matches saw keen competition, the level of it increasing as the tournament moved towards the culminating rounds. It was heartening to see a high level of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participants. The match officials from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre at Bangalore did a commendable job and deserve a lot of credit for the success of the event. The school logistic team was a huge support and was ever present, ready for any eventuality. The school kitchen team maintained a constant flow of meals and snacks of the highest quality for everyone and was roundly cheered by all. The rains mainly kept away, though the support team was always at hand to ensure the courts were dried and made ready soon after the few showers that came by. All participants, managers, parents, officials had such glowing feedback for the school and how it hosted the event!
Overall, it was a very satisfying exercise and made for a good learning for our children in the hosting of such big events. As the winners and runners up of the six categories plan and practice for the upcoming National Finals, we wish them the very best.
