City Montessori School (CMS) is a private co-educational English-medium institution affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and offers education from preschool to class XII. Sited at Gomti Nagar locality of Lucknow, it is one of the well-established branches of the CMS group of schools which boasts 20 separate campuses spread across the city. The school was established in 1991 with 200 students on its rolls and now boasts student strength of 5774 and faculty strength of 245.
CMS Gomti Nagar students are placed every year in large numbers in premier engineering, medical and professional colleges across India and several CMS students have bagged the National Talent Search (NTS) and other scholarships.
In the Education World India School Rankings 2012, CMS, Gomtinagar ranked number four among day schools in the state of Uttar Pradesh and it topped the nationwide day schools league table in the ‘Internationalism’ parameter.
The school campus features multi-purpose sports fields, swimming pool, modern science, math, language and computer laboratories, well stocked libraries, robotics lab, a well-equipped gymnasium, playground and smart classrooms with audio-visual facilities. The school also boasts a large auditorium and a special classroom in each section with interactive white boards.
CMS has adopted the Montessori Method of preschool education. The pre-primary section admits students between the ages of two and five, as follows:
Montessori: two to three years of age (play group)
Nursery: four years of age
Kindergarten: five years of age
Classes I to XII follow the curriculum prescribed CISCE; students are prepared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations at classes X and XII respectively.
