The Consortium of National Law Universities has extended the last date for submission of online applications for appearing in the 2021 Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) till May 15.
The decision has been taken considering the difficulties faced by students following bank closures and lockdowns because of the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in various states in the country, the consortium said in a notification.
“The Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities met on 28th April 2021. After reviewing recent developments the Consortium resolved to extend the application deadline due to difficulties faced by students arising out of bank closures and lockdowns,” the notification read.
In a previous notification issued on April 19, the consortium had said that it would take the stock of the Covid 19 situation in first week of May regarding the date of conducting the CLAT 2021.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for entry to national law schools had been rescheduled to June 13. The Consortium of National Law Universities that conducts the entrance examination had earlier announced that the CLAT 2021 would be held on May 9.
The CLAT is conducted to admit students to 22 national law universities across India.
Nearly 73,000 candidates had enrolled for appearing in CLAT last year.National, News
