The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) for undergraduate admissions will be held from May 8 to June 1, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Saturday.
Applications opened on March 1 and will remain open until March 22. Officials stated that the exam dates are tentative, with a detailed schedule to be released later.
The test will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Introduced in 2022, CUET-UG was designed to standardize university admissions across central, state, and select private institutions, replacing multiple entrance exams. It assesses candidates on language skills, domain-specific knowledge, and general aptitude, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to promote equal access to higher education.
In 2024, around 13.47 lakh candidates registered, slightly lower than the 14.99 lakh applicants in 2023. The 2024 edition introduced a hybrid format, offering both online and offline exam modes. Among test-takers, 7.17 lakh were male, 6.30 lakh female, and seven identified as transgender, showcasing the exam’s broad reach and diversity.
