Over a dozen colleges, including Delhi University’s prestigious Lady Sri Ram College, Hansraj College, and Ramjas College, received bomb threats on Thursday. However, thorough searches revealed nothing suspicious, officials said, a day after a similar email alarmed the North Block.
A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official reported the first call at 4:38 pm regarding LSR College, with two fire tenders dispatched. Subsequently, other colleges also alerted authorities.
Police, a bomb disposal squad, and a dog squad searched LSR College but found nothing. LSR Principal Suman Sharma confirmed the campus was sanitized after a two-three hour search.
A police officer stated over a dozen other Delhi colleges received similar threats from the sender “[email protected]” with the subject “Bomb in the University.” The targeted colleges included Hansraj, Gargi, Ramjas, Zakir Husain, Indraprastha, Lady Irwin, Kirori Mal, Bhaskaracharya, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Sri Venkateswara, and PGDAV Colleges. State universities like Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University and the School of Planning and Architecture also received threats.
The email from “beeble.com,” a Europe-based service, read, “There’s a bomb inside your university and every Delhi University. Blood will scatter everywhere, and we will slit your families’ throats as well.” It claimed the group Terrorizer111 was behind it.
All affected campuses were searched, and nothing suspicious was found. Recently, similar bomb threats have targeted schools and hospitals in Delhi. Investigations by the Delhi Police are ongoing.
