The Directorate of Education (DoE) has extended the admission deadline for entry-level classes for children of economically weaker sections and those with special needs in all private schools in Delhi.
According to a circular released by the DoE on Monday, the extension applies to entry-level classes — Nursery, KG, and Class 1 — for the academic session 2024-25 and to two categories — Economically Weaker Section and Disadvantaged Group (EWS/DG) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
As per the previous circular, the deadline was May 31, which has now been moved to July 31, till 1 pm.
The directive mandates that all concerned private unaided recognised schools comply strictly with the new deadline.
The DoE emphasized the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in education, highlighting the need to provide ample opportunities for children from marginalized sections of society to access quality education. This extension is aimed at ensuring that no eligible child misses out on the chance to enroll due to time constraints.
Parents and guardians of eligible children are encouraged to take advantage of this extended deadline to complete the admission process. The DoE also assured that necessary measures have been put in place to facilitate a smooth admission process during this extended period.
In addition to extending the deadline, the DoE is also working closely with private schools to ensure they are well-prepared to accommodate the additional applications and provide the required support to the families during the admission process.
