Founded in 1958, Don Bosco School, sited at Park Circus in the heart of Kolkata is an English medium Anglo Indian school for Catholic boys established and managedby Salesians of Don Bosco (North India).

The school is a Christian Minority institution recognised by the National Commission for minority Education Institution, government of India and Department of Education of Government of West Bengal. It is affiliated withthe Council for theIndian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhiand the Council for Vocational Education (CVE). The schoolalso has a provision for admission ofnon-Catholic boys.

Don Bosco School, Park Circushosts spacious classrooms with large windows for ample light and air to flood in, an auditorium,audio visual room, a well-resourced library with a collection of wide range of books, an assembly hall and well equipped laboratories for subjects such asbiology, chemistry and computer science.

A well maintained play area, a basket ball court, a table tennis court, cricket pitch area and karate room are some of the sports facilities available at the school campus.


Affiliated with CISCE,Don Bosco School, Park Circus, offers schooling from Kindergarten through class XII. It prepares students for theIndian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)examination conducted at the end of class X. The curriculum at this level includes subjects such as English, Bengali/Hindi, Mathematics, History Civics & Geography, Science,Economic Applications and Computer Applications.

The school prepares higher secondary students for the Indian School Certificate (ISC)examination conducted at the end of class XII. The following streams are offered at this level:

(a) Science Stream – comprises English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,

Environmental Science and Biology/Computer Science /Economics.

(b) Commerce Stream – comprises English, Commerce, Accounts,

Mathematics,Economics and Business Studies / Computer Science.

Technical Section :Established in 1965, the technical section of the school offers job-oriented trainingcourse in Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering which prepares boys for the following certificates:

(i) IndustrialTraining Institute (ITI) exam, (ii) Don Bosco Technical Institute Diploma and

(iii) The Certificate of Vocational Education (CVE) of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations,New Delhi.

There is also a Non-Formal section that offers a short-term job oriented trainingprogramme.

Evening School: Free evening classes are conducted for underprivileged children of the locality and Adult Literacy Programme for girls from the nearbylocality.


The school organises youth camps and movements, sports events, interschool quiz events, extempore competitions, cultural day and Independence Day celebration as part of their extra-curricular activities for the all-round personality development of students.

Applications for admission to Kindergarten are accepted from students of all faiths. However, Christians are given preference. Admissions to other classes take place against chance vacancies at the beginning of the school year. No new admissions are done normally for classes IX, X, XI and XII. Exception may be made forclass XI.

Parents/Guardians are required to fill in the admission forms with utmost accuracy. No subsequent changes will be permitted.

A candidate who has attended a recognized school may be admitted only with a Transfer Certificate from the school he has last attended. Catholicstudents must also produce a Baptism Certificate.

Criteria for admission to class XI:

The candidate’s interview is conducted along with theparents. Conduct record of a student plays a major in hisadmissionto class XI.

(1) Commerce: A student must secure a minimum aggregate of 60 percent in class X for provisional admission to class XI.

(2) Science: A student must secure minimum 65 percent in class X in each of the following subjects: English, Mathematics and Science.

(3) To change the stream from Commerce to Science after the ICSE results are announced, a candidate must secure minimum 80 percent each in English, Mathematics and Science.
