Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya, Malad is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, and offers its class X SSC exam. The school was founded in October 1993 and is part of the Bombay Cambridge Gurukul, started by Vikram Patel. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya provides education from pre-primary level to class X.
The mission of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya is to provide quality education in an environment of inquiry and discovery, to create aware and caring learners.
The school boasts well equipped labs for physics, chemistry and biology, a well stocked library (13,000 books), a computer facility, and a resource centre with professionally qualified psychologists and special educators.
Uniquely the school also hosts a department of research and human resource development which work towards enhancing the quality of education provided to students. The research department prepares all curricular material to make learning interesting and meaningful while the HRD department provides services to enable the growth and development of staff, parents and students.
The pre-primary section uses the play way method to enable the growth and development of fine and gross motor coordination skills and the 3-R’s. A variety of art and craft activities are also used. Students are given worksheets which are skill based, age appropriate and sequenced for maximum learning.
The primary curriculum has a mix of formal and informal education. Students are encouraged to participate in collaborative group tasks, thereby developing sensitivity and building team-spirit. Children do not have notebooks but use worksheets. Students are also taken on field trips to provide first hand and experiential learning
The secondary school curriculum is aimed at developing physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills. The curriculum is futuristic and focuses on building life skills and communication skills. Again at the secondary level students are given worksheets to make learning interesting and impactful.
The school also has a special resource centre for children with learning disabilities and difficulties.
