The Union Education Ministry has introduced guidelines for implementing bagless days for classes 6-8, aiming to make school learning more enjoyable and stress-free. Released on the fourth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these guidelines, developed by the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, focus on integrating a 10-day bagless period into the curriculum.
During this period, students will participate in hands-on vocational experiences such as carpentry, gardening, and pottery, tailored to local needs. The activities can be scheduled flexibly throughout the year, with options including market surveys, charity visits, and kite making. The aim is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, helping students explore potential career paths.
Additionally, the ministry launched several new initiatives on the NEP anniversary, including TV channels for learning Indian languages, early-grade primers in 25 languages, and career guidance resources. There are also plans for a National Mission for Mentoring and new standards for teacher training.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the transformative impact of the NEP, emphasizing its role in making education more vibrant and future-ready. The Akhil Bharatiya Siksha Samagam event was organized to celebrate NEP adoption, strengthen stakeholder commitment, and foster collaborative efforts towards achieving educational goals.
