A panel discussion held at the end of a daylong meeting of educators (The IMAGINed Educators’ Summit) in Mumbai on April 10, focused on real world and experiential learning and the evolving role of educators in a dynamic learning to environment.

The panel  included Dr. Swati Popat Vatq, President of Early Childhood Association (ECA) Howard Gee, Principal, DSB International School, Priya Anand, Principal, Mount Litera,Mona Seervai, Education Consultant, Todd Bazley, Principal, JBCN International School and Ujjwal Anu Chowdhury. During the Q and A session ( the only session open to the press, all other seasons were closed) an educator observed ‘Art exploration is very important in the process of learning for life.”

Another educator lamented  that the tiger, honeybee and sparrow are on the verge of extinction, an unhappy prospect which could be highlighted by the Museum of Solutions. Yet another educator pointed out  that  there are 16 types of expression and  a section on the same as well as sections for recycling and repairs could enhance the museum.

An educator pondered on the  question of  children choosing their learning experiences. JBCN  Principal Bazley said choice is  a key word. DSB Principal Gee observed that “co-creation and collaboration is key.” Yet another educator said that a “gym playground can become a gamechanger in the  game of life.”

Moderator Rodriguez underlined the importance of peer learning and suggested a handbook for parents outlining their roles and duties.

“The Summit was conceptualised to bring school leaders together to reimagine what learning can truly look like in today’s world. At MuSo, we believe real change begins with curiosity and collaboration. It was incredibly encouraging to see principals engage deeply in conversations around integrating real-world challenges into curricula and using experiential learning to foster resilience and creativity in students” said Tanvi Jindal Shete, CEO and Founder, MuSo.

“The panel discussion explored how MuSo can be an extension of the school and how true Panchadi as given in NEP-2020 can be implemented with a Museum- School connection that contributes to experiential learning,  choice, wonder and joy” said ECA’s Dr  Vats, adding that play is the engineer of learning.

“We received  meaningful insights from the proceedings” said Sr Josnita Antao of  Auxilium Convent, Goa who was in the city for the annual conclave of convent heads orchestrated by  Auxilium Convent Head Sr Gloria Ferrao who led her team of six to MuSo.
