Eight injured as school bus collides with truck in Bihar

A private school bus carrying 20 children collided with a truck on National Highway-27 near Konhwa in Bihar’s Gopalganj district on Thursday morning, leaving eight injured, including the bus driver.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6:30 am when the bus, transporting students from Thave Videshi Tola and Konhwa localities, was struck by a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused significant damage to the bus.

Seven students and the driver, identified as Ramadhar Sharma, are receiving treatment at Gopalganj Sadar Hospital. The remaining children were discharged after receiving first aid at a nearby community health centre.

Station house officer Praveen Prabhakar confirmed that both vehicles have been seized, and legal proceedings are underway. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the truck was being driven recklessly, leading to the collision. In response to the accident, local residents staged a protest by blocking the highway and burning tyres, disrupting traffic for over two hours.
