Electronic devices seized during Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti competitive exams

Suspicious electronic devices were seized and 17 candidates were arrested from two different centres in Dehradun during the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) competitive examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday, according to a police statement. 

They said that this action has been taken on two separate complaints.

Pankaj Nautiyal, principal and centre superintendent of Social Baluni Public School, lodged a complaint at the Patel Nagar police station that during the NVS/JSA competitive examination held in the first shift, an electronic device was recovered from a candidate which the candidate had hidden in his shoes, they said.

Electronic devices were recovered from seven candidates in the NVS/Lab Attendant examination held in the second shift, the police said.

On the complaint of Nautiyal, two separate FIRs were registered under relevant sections and eight candidates were arrested.

“The accused have been identified as Saurabh Yadav, Robin, Akshay Mann, Neeraj Mann, Manish Malik, Aman, Ankush and Mohit Kumar who are residents of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The accused are being questioned,” an official said.

In another complaint, centre superintendent of Doon International School, RS Bisht, said electronic devices were recovered from nine candidates during the NVS/Lab Attendant exam held in the second shift at his centre.

“Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Kotwali Dalanwala and candidates named Madanala Pawan, Rakesh, Ankur Grewal, Illumla Venkatesh, Sahil Kheri, Kapil, Akhil, Vishal Singh and Jyoti were arrested,” the police said.
