A 22-year-old engineering student from Bengaluru has filed a complaint against her former partner for allegedly sexually exploiting her under the false pretext of marriage.
The student said in her complaint that the duo met on Instagram and were in a relationship as her partner assured her that he would marry her.
She has alleged that he has now moved out of the country. She said that her partner told her she was arrested in Dubai to escape the situation while it was found that he was in the United States based on the status of his passport.
The police have said that they have issued a look out notice for him and that he will be detained soon after he lands in India.
The final year college student claimed that she befriended her partner on Instagram in 2023. About a year later, when the partner made a proposal, she said that she denied it since the boy was from a higher caste. The boy, however, convinced her that caste would not matter and agreed to meet her mother.
The partner who frequented her house also claimed that he had purchased a house at RR Nagar in Bengaluru. She said that her partner convinced her for physical intimacy as they would get married as well.
A formal engagement ceremony was also scheduled after a pre-wedding shoot and the wedding was scheduled for June. However, soon after this, she said that the boy raised the differences in caste and refused to get married. When the girl’s family confronted the partner, they were insulted over belonging to a lower caste and said that marriage would not happen.
While her partner said that he was arrested in Dubai, his parents allegedly told the girl’s family that they did not consent to this wedding.
