Over 130 globally renowned European higher education institutions from 23 European countries will participate in a first-of-its-kind European Higher Education Virtual Fair (EHEVF) to be held for Indian & South Asian students and institutions from November 26 to 29, 2015. The European Union Delegation to India is organising the event to highlight what Europe has to offer in terms of the high quality and diversity of English-taught post-graduate and PhD courses and allow students to explore educational, scholarship and career opportunities in Europe. Students will have the opportunity to connect ‘live’ with over 130 universities on one single platform through a series of webinars, chats and Q&A sessions and find the right fit for their higher education needs.

A dedicated website has been set up (www.study-europe.net) to provide institutional information on the higher education systems in 28 EU Member States as well as on participating universities. Students will be able to access information on research opportunities in Europe, courses available in various subjects, tuition fees, living arrangements and costs, scholarships, visas, and post-study prospects including employment and entrepreneurial opportunities from the website. They will also be able to interact with the university authorities by participating in live chats, Q&A sessions and subject-specific webinar sessions. EHEVF will also act as a platform to foster institutional contacts between European and Indian/South Asian universities in the context of EU-funded programmes such as Erasmus +.

India has the second highest number of internationally mobile students after China, travelling abroad for tertiary level education. On the other hand, Europe is recognised as a leading higher educational destination for international students, offering both cutting edge education, value for money and rich cultural experience. Speaking about the initiative, Tomasz Kozlowski, ambassador of the European Union said, “There are currently over 55,000 Indian students studying in Europe, the majority at Master’s level. The number has been growing steadily over the years, especially as a large number of leading institutions in different countries now offer English-taught courses. We hope that this initiative which will create a virtual dialogue platform between Indian students and European academic institutions will enable them to get real time information from the comfort of their homes.”

The EHEVF India & South Asia 2015 will showcase some of the best educational institutions in Europe – including several which appear in the internationally renowned Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015: University of Bristol (United Kingdom), University of Groningen (The Netherlands), École Polytechnique (France),Aarhus University (Denmark), Technical University of Denmark, Aalto University (Finland), University of Pavia (Italy), University of Eastern Finland, University of Tartu (Estonia), Charles University in Prague(Czech Republic),University of Tampere (Finland), University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague(Czech Republic), Gda?sk University of Technology (Poland), Jagiellonian University (Poland), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), and University of Pardubice (Czech Republic) to name a few.
