From Vedas to metaverse, education ministry showcases NEP 2020 on Republic Day

Exhibiting key aspects of the much-spoken about National Education Policy 2020, the tableau by the ministry of education was among the key attractions of the 73rd republic day parade.

Named the ‘Vedas to Metaverse’, the tableau depicted the vision of the National Education Policy to gather ancient data while also prioritising new age streams of study for students.

Taking to Twitter, the ministry of education posted pictures of the tableau captioning it Glimpses of our unique tableau at the #RepublicDay 2022 parade. It showcases key aspects of National Education Policy 2020 through its theme ‘Vedas to Metaverse’. Rooted in our culture, the policy also addresses the human resource requirements of the 21st century. #NEP2020

Describing the idea behind the concept, the ministry explained that Tableau’s front portion depicts the country’s glorious past, the repository of knowledge the country has had since ancient times.

The first part of the display showcases India’s ancient gurukula system of learning while the rear portion on the tableau behind models of sages and inventors shows a ‘bulb’ symbolizing innovation. “Students’ procession signifies skill development, joyful learning, and the latest technologies like Virtual Reality,” the ministry has said.

Video played on the LED screens of the digital-book depicts India’s venture into new-age multidisciplinary education, emphasis on research and innovation, boost to Startups, concepts of robotics, and metaverse was also shown. Moreover, images of educationists and scientists from ancient times and the modern age were displayed on both sides of tableau.
